WCG email

email from WCG:

"You last returned a result on May 25, 2009. If this is older than you thought, then click here to see your history of returned results. If you are no longer contributing, you may download the software again here."

Sorry but today is only May 26, 2009. I know my PC isn't the fastest. I don't always run my PC 24/7, though it is processing for WCG when ever it is on. The units that I am currently processing take 14 hours of CPU time, so no, I don't submit a unit every 24hrs. Yes, the unit I am working on will be finished / submitted before lunch tomorrow.

Re: WCG email

This is the newsletter.

It is sent to everyone (who didn't opt out of the newsletters).

It's just a suggestion to help members keep an eye on their computers and make sure they are consistently contributing. Obviously, you have no problems.

Re: WCG email

Patrick,

The purpose of that bit of text was to inform some people that they have stopped contributing. There are a lot of people who get a new computer or laptop or for some other reason have stopped contributing but they still want to. We included the date of the last result so that when these people see that and that date is much older then they expected (30 or more days is often what happens) then they realize that they need to reinstall the software.

We are sorry that the text was a bit misleading and was interpreted as a comment on your computers power. That is not at all what we intended.

We will make this clearer next time (in fact we will add logic to our newsletter code so that this section will only be included for people who haven't returned a result in 21 days or so).

THANK YOU for your ongoing contribution - whether it is one result an hour, a day or a week. We DO appreciate your contribution!

Kevin
