Re: Yo, we are 5th Again biggrin

Hi Dave,

Sure glad it's Friday .. and who ever said Friday the 13th is unlucky .. ..

Hallo everyone, I've been lurking for quite some time sad

Welcome to all our new members

So, how was everyones Friday 13th??
Until yesterday I believed it was a load of crap tongue . on my way to work, I was listening on the radio to all the stories about Friday 13th and just smiling that people can be so stupid.....I arrived at work to find that one of my cars was totalled in an accident and a client injured, minutes later they phoned me from school .. my son was injured, then I had a huge problem with one of the office workers, then my medical exam turned out to be not so routine, and I end the day in bed with the flu.
Uh, need I say more sad sad
Perhaps I must re-evaluate this superstition thing. Any comments?

Fanie --
Sorry to hear about your bad day. I hope that your son is okay and that your not so routine medical exam doesn't turn out to be all that bad. Hope you get over the flu real quick too. For me, Friday the 13th has always been lucky since Friday, March 13, 1970. That day was the day that I returned unscathed from Vietnam and was discharged from the US Army.

Dave
Yes, your Friday experience can't be topped. I was in the army myself and can remember the elation on discharge, coming back from Vietnam must be special.

I only believe in one “superstition” so to speak. If you praise something without saying "touch wood", something will happen shortly to shatter your illusion. I will give you a few examples:
I was driving a BMW and telling my friend that it’s my most reliable vehicle ever… while talking the electronics cut out!!
On another occasion my son was with me driving in Namibia. I was telling him that the 4X4 we were using are renowned for an excellent gearbox … literally 5 minutes later the gearbox was gone, stranding us in the middle of nowhere.
While mining in Central Africa, I was telling some people the virtues of the Unimog we were using .. it was towed back to camp. smile I can go on and on with this list

Sure it is alot of nonsense, but still... wink

Hi Fanie,
My Friday the 13 yesterday was typical. Had end of course project to hand in by lunchtime, left the printing to the last minute and watched the printer collapse with 6 other guys trying to do the same thing.

IT call for help was going to take too long so had to use another nastier single side printer crying

On plus side the stress relief last night was excessive though we stayed in theme for Fri 13. Waking up this morn finding fake blood and green paint all through room.......

Beren:
To my fellow aussie, your welcome, but you have to thank graham for creating it. biggrin Am here in the UK just waiting for June to see the ashes and Oz kick butt. Was around for the double (union/league) rugby triumph last year, risking life and limb to wear wallabies jersey in a Lincoln pub. devilish

Re: My Biggest Crunching Day Ever

Congrats to all of MOT(e) for overtaking Canada.

I'd like to apologize for my previous opinion of you, after reading through the forum I have revised that opinion. You guys and gals are alright. You can actually laugh and have fun on a forum without being too serious or stuck on yourselves, wish more were like you.

"Life is to be laughed at, otherwise we'd be crying all the time"

I'd especially like to apolgize to Graham, when I departed from this project because of some of the forum moderation and some of the drama over TW coming here I wasn't very kind to Graham in some of the things I said.

Graham you're awesome man, you help out when it isn't required of you and ask nothing in return, too bad more people can't be like you. Sorry for pointing the finger at you when it was a combined effort on all our parts to create the drama that should have never transpired, what was "in good fun" backfired on all of us. And now that I think back on it I think you took the brunt of all our discontent when it wasn't deserved. Sorry bud.

/Mot sickness

Whew OK I'm all better now...the sappiness of being in a MOT thread was overtaking me for a minute there.

Anyways, CONGRATS folks, you rock. (slight relapse)
