The best thing to do for now is if u really want to crunch HCDM2 on P3 an older machines, just use windows instead of linux. While the techs are trying to solve the issue with linux on P3, crunch rice or other projects for the time being if you dont like or dont have a copy of windows. Nobody is holding a weapon and force you to produce erroneous results and waste your time and money. Is the purpose of contributing to WCG only for the number of gold badges to brag about? Or are we doing this to help humanity? As TX13 said, his P3 only have an NT4 workstation OS, I believe boinc 5.8.16 still work on that OS. If the machine is only used for crunching, you can also dual boot, use NT4 in the meantime then switch back to linux later. For those who only have linux, just wait until the problem is fixed and crunch other projects. |
