Great news about this project, hopefully some good information can be had from the project in short order.
As someone who has a somewhat similar medical condition (not MD), I'll certainly throw my extra computing time off in this direction. A breakthrough in your area just might be what is needed for a researcher in mine to exclaim "Ah ha!". Here's hoping so anyway |

Alessandra,
I'm happy to see this project and have turned a portion of the farm onto it exclusively. I joined the party here as you were wrapping up the first phase on the old client. I came in with BOINC, and have been here ever since with the farm. A question came up on my home team, Xtreme Systems, on the expected duration of the project. Realizing that this question depends on the participation, the stats, the permutations , etc., you encounter, any guess? We have some highly motivated folks on the team that would like to make hardware purchases and commitments based on this answer. We would like to give the answer to them, "straight from the horse's mouth". (Read as, your best guess....) Thanks and Regards, Bob |

Realizing that this question depends on the participation, the stats, the permutations , etc., you encounter, any guess? It is hard to estimate right know. My personal guess would be more or less around 18 month of crunching. But, of course, I would be very happy if we would achieve to mobilize an huge amount of volunteers in order to cut off this estimation ! Anyway, we will publish the progression as the results are sent back to us, either on the Decrypthon website and/or on Nicolas Bard's page . |

HCMD Phase I required 8082 years of CPU time to compute all the positions.
The number of positions of HCMD Phase II is 13.24 times greater :) There are 2,466,753 couples of proteins, but it is impossible to predict how much CPU time each couple will need, due to very "expensive" positions appearing randomly. |

Hello rilian,
knreed has posted about this. The newsletter email includes a section telling people when they last sent a result. The reason is that a lot of people stop running BOINC without realizing it. In the future, this section will only be included in emails to people who have not returned a result within 30 days. Lawrence |

Dear Ms Carbone,
Both of my nephews have muscular dystrophy. One is 19 years old and studying chemistry at UC Irvine in southern California. He is now using a motorized chair to get around campus. The other is 14 years old and just starting high school. He seems to be progressing a bit slower than his older brother, however, his disease was found out long before his brother's was. Any little bit I can do to further the treatment and cure of this range of diseases is absolutely my honor. Thank you for your work. Sincerely, Monica Dallas, GA |
