I have a computer designated to receive only CEP WU's and no CEP WU's have been received for the last six hours. Here is what the computer has received :
----------------------------------------mk475_ 00029_ 9-- 5/6/09 17:38:44 5/16/09 17:38:44 X0000096800960200802271035 5/6/09 13:57:39 5/16/09 13:57:39 flu10101b0079_ 100144_ 0-- 5/6/09 12:43:34 5/16/09 12:43:34 flu10101b0075_ 100059_ 0-- 5/6/09 11:39:30 5/16/09 11:39:30 I have the "If there is no work available for my computer for the projects I have selected above, please send me work from another project" box checked. Not complaining especially given the recent flow of CEG WU's, just curious or maybe unlucky getting CEG WU's. Thank you. [Edit 2 times, last edit by RaymondFO at May 8, 2009 12:23:47 PM] |

CEG? Plz, it's CEP.
----------------------------------------Not heard anything as were the supply exhausted again. My records show validation for past 4 days: 3rd 14255 4th 13992 5th 13073 6th 11521 Possibly the batch generation chain for FLU1 is getting some unshared attention to keep that in high gear during launch, or version 6.32 is in the making :D

I've made a change that should solve help prevent this. With the 8 projects now active BOINC was struggling to keep work available for all projects.

With the 8 projects now active BOINC was struggling to keep work available for all projects. Talk about pushing BOINC to it's limits ![]() How will it cope with another 2 or 3 projects? ![]() ![]() |

Since the posting of this "change" here are the WU's I received for the dedicated CEP computer:
----------------------------------------X0000096830949200802211550_ 0 5/7/09 01:46:25 5/17/09 01:46:25 X0000097550466200803111403_ 2 5/6/09 23:01:40 5/10/09 06:13:40 E000563_ 009A_ 006w6f00l_ 2- 5/6/09 22:47:03 5/10/09 05:59:03 flu10101c0118_ 100295_ 0 5/6/09 22:33:39 5/16/09 22:33:39 Just an FYI. The 'next work units to be sent by the scheduler' are staged up in groups. We have always had a few computers having to wait for work units from a particular project, unless they checked the 'any project if nothing available' box. Now that we have so many projects running simultaneously, this is apparently going to be a much more frequent occurrence with the scheduler.

I've made a change that should solve help prevent this. With the 8 projects now active BOINC was struggling to keep work available for all projects. And... what was changed? There is a in memory cache on the web servers. It stores a set of work units ready to send. When a request comes in from a client, this in memory cache is scanned for work to send. We have CEP weight lower then other projects due to its large data set size for the results of type B workunits (some will be coming shortly). That meant that there was a small amount of slots in the cache assigned to CEP. This was being frequently depleted before the mechanism that replenished the cache could update it. I've gone ahead and increased the size of the cache and slightly increased CEP's share of the cache. This should address the issue. |
