my guess is with the amount of relitivly new projects they probaly want to run alot of those work before they add new projects
----------------------------------------with all the people out there doing badge hunting and the like jumping from 1 project to another just to get the badge (like me) if they put up too many new projects alot of the projects closer to finishing will not get as much work per day done cause of the badge hunters in a frenzy for the new badge i know right now im only crunching Influenza till i get close to the gold and i supsect alot of other people are too they want people with even 1 computer to be able to get badges for all running projects so if they release projects within 1 month of each other i think that would defete the purpose of being able to get badges if you want to and only have 1 computer myself i have 4 and sometimes have a hard time getting complete on the badges right now cause the computers sometime have to shut down boinc and WCG to do work for me i would not expect it before june. but i have no clue when it actualy will be released. you can also look in the beta projects for a little warning sometimes about new projects ![]() |

The beta tests for the new project had already been completed for a few days. Happy crunching and happy badge hunting! Jean. Edit: Added the first sentence of the quote, which has actually motivated my post. If taken relative to AC@H2 I agree it is misleading. ![]() ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by JmBoullier at May 12, 2009 3:08:45 PM] |

Hi gulu,
No news. It depends on PhD candidates who want to work on this project and a PhD advisor who is interested in pushing this particular preoject rather than pursuing other possibilities. It might happen, but there is nothing definite to report. Lawrence |

On the WCG linked page for this project, "Climate Systems Analysis Group ", there is an email address and a phone number (in Rep. of South Africa, I assume). If some one is really interested on the status of this project, I guess he or she could contact them by one of these methods.

It's been stretching so long that it might indeed not happen is my feel too... personally I'd think that deeply disappointing for the effort WCG and volunteers crunchers put in to get phase 1 completed with all the pathfinding that needed to be done to get these tasks running proper. It's extremely important to me to be able to predict micro/macro-climate in that region, hardest hit by the GW changes and the continuing reduction of precipitation.
----------------------------------------edit: In that I was very pleased to recently see documentary about a farmer in Burkina Faso who reintroduced an ancient farming technique several decades ago to optimally capture the rain water in the soil and fertilize it with cow dung pits using termites to unleash the minerals contained in these pockets. Now 2.5 million people have regular food in a quite arid Sahel region... yet very few outside interested. Read a little from an older article as this as been a revival even visible with satellite observation... nothing at all to do with returns of rain http://www.un.org/ecosocdev/geninfo/afrec/subjindx/112agr11.htm
