Had a PC off-line while waiting for a replacement PSU which has now been fitted but when I try running BOINC it only has two tasks in progress (on a quad-core) and if I try a manual update I get the following:-
18/04/2009 20:48:14|World Community Grid|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. Requesting 1229657 seconds of work, reporting 0 completed tasks 18/04/2009 20:48:19|World Community Grid|Scheduler request succeeded: got 0 new tasks 18/04/2009 20:48:19|World Community Grid|Message from server: No work sent 18/04/2009 20:48:19|World Community Grid|Message from server: No work is available for Help Fight Childhood Cancer 18/04/2009 20:48:19|World Community Grid|Message from server: No work is available for Discovering Dengue Drugs - Together 18/04/2009 20:48:19|World Community Grid|Message from server: No work is available for The Clean Energy Project 18/04/2009 20:48:19|World Community Grid|Message from server: (reached daily quota of 4 results) I have some other machines running fine with more than four results a day and wondered if I have made a schoolboy error here. |

I suspect when you restarted the computer, World Community Grid immediately aborted all your unstarted tasks, and this reduced your quota.
You probably had a lot of tasks queued - your work request is for 14 CPU days of work. Wait until your in-progress tasks complete, or until tomorrow, and you will get more work. Things will return to normal quickly. |

I'm having problems getting WCG workunits on this machine with that same set of projects selected, so the problem could also involve a shortage of those types of workunits. The quad-core computer I've just added seems to have no problems getting them, though, although not enough of them to keep its 1.2 day queue full.

Robert - have you been having any issue with returning what WCG has been sending you lately? I am currently running my i7 at full bore on DDDT and never have any problem getting WUs. The only project that is having issues with trying to provide WUs is CEP.

That's not the case, robertmiles. There is no shortage, and Leomas has a different problem (as explained earlier).
If you have a work-fetch problem, please start a new thread and provide your own message log. Thank you. |

Ah...many thanks, it would appear that the Grid (along with many other things) encourages patience. A day has passed and all has returned to normal so I can once more balance the guilt of an over the top games machine with doing good
