Yes, I want to know a good dual socket board. What is the model number of the board you reference? Is it a Core i7 chip? Ahh, from your wishlist you showed just single socket so thats what I replied with. Honestly, dual socket isn't cheap to do. A top dual socket 1366 board is $400.00 but the killer is the cpu cost. The top W5580(3200mhz Gainestown) cpu's are app $1850.00 each. So $3700 for cpu's,$400 for board and minimum of $150.00 for 6x1 gig DDR3-1333 ECC from Kingston. That's $4250.00 right there and you need a good 750w PSU,drive,case,etc..A $5000.00 build. Now you could go with the E5520(2260mhz Gainestowns) and cut $2800.00 from that price as they are $379 each at Newegg as of today. Very nice machine but I'm back to a single socket i7-920 on a good gaming board is the best bang for the buck. My board is a Supermicro X8DA3.. Solid board and dependable; http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/QPI/5500/X8DA3.cfm ![]() [Edit 3 times, last edit by Movieman at Apr 14, 2009 3:50:10 AM] |
