biggrin WCG SPORTS "LIVE" Coverage: The second annual World Community Grid "Bunny Race"

Come witness the spectacle that is yours on this edition of WCG Wide World of Sports!....................
_____________________________________________________
[Jim McKay, recorded]
Before we start the show, lets take you now to WCG Arena, for the opening day ceremonies of WCG SPORTS 2009 Season. With words by the most trusted voice in American journalism, Walter Cronkite.
___________

Accompanied by the WCG Drum & Bugle Corp. With Aaron Copeland conducting a rendition of one of his greatest works, "Fanfare for the Common Man":

Fanfare to the modern gladiator

[WCG Drum & Bugle Corp marches out to center field]

0:00 %xx %xx %xx (percussion)

[The stadium lights dim. Single trumpet takes center spotlight, Cronkite reads:]

0:22 Since the dawn of the modern age, the computer! A testament to mathematics, engineering and human prowess.

0:36 Once seen only by science and business as a tool, is now recognized by many more as a trusted ally, even friend.

[French horn joins as the spotlight widens]

0:49 %xx %xx

0:53 The Internet, another of mankind’s greatest triumphs.

1:06 For now even the most novice computer user can causally access this miracle looking glass into the sum stores of human knowledge.

1:15 Commerce, community, education, entertainment; worlds which we still marvel.

1:26 %xx %xx

[Baritone and bass ensemble joins in as the spotlight widens even still]

1:37 Now there's DC =< =< =< Distributive Computing, another major step in this evolution.

1:53 Now even the most common person can join with the hand of science…

[spotlight widens to light the whole arena]

2:01 And reach forth together!

2:09 As we reach forward to a better world, as a world, together!

2:21 So here we are, =< =< =< within the walls of this social and virtual epiphany.

2:33 What could be so worthy of this fanfare?

2:43 Today, teams from around the world have gathered representing many nations, races and creeds. Drawn here in a modern celebration, with a spirit born of our ancient past.

2:56 So, to those of its creation, to all that will attend: ........."We, of the arena, salute you!"

[Jim McKay, quickly screaming over the crescendo]

The reason why these races are so important, is it is a thread where all the teams come together and celebrate our commitment to tasks ahead us, but instill a point normally missed. That we crunch for the benefit of humanity, but also to show we can live and work together as a world people. Free of the binds that hold us back from progress that would bring forth a better future as a group, a people and as a world; to be in.

We will be back with more of the Bunny Race, after this.

What? You do not actually think that we crunchers all over the globe already know this? And have known this for years?

Thanks for "telling us" why we crunch. Geez ... biggrin

"We now return you to whatever has been posted". biggrin

Ehhh, all in good fun. wink

Yes, I noticed it at the last second. It is the first annual race. I was moving and had much to do, otherwise I would have moved on this sooner.

Oh and Johnny, Mckay was on an excusive contract with ABC Sports for 30 years, but the opener and the ad's for them are commercials.

Also, when I've pointed out the "it isn’t so much how much you crunch, but its that you do" concept, I get shot down by those who would say "I'm degrading the concept of crunching by such gibberish".

So now ask yourself a question: "Why is something so worthy, so small?"
