I would like that world community grid can give the option to prioritize the projects that we are in. For example I would like to receive "Help Fight Childhood Cancer" more than "Nutritious Rice for the World" so I select 1 for the cancer research and 2 or less for the rice.
This will give me more work units to fight cancer than to find about rice. Their will be a kind of a ratio. to keep all the projects being done. Such as Multi Core systems Priority 1. The computer will always be doing 50% of that task (1 Core) Priority 2. The Computer will be having 30% of the time (1 core not every time requesting working unit) Priority 3. etc |

There have been all kind of requests to allow the user to control which project has higher priority over another for WCG works. And WCG is well aware of such requests and may be considering how to address them.
I don't know what they will provide, eventually something will be provided. This is not a high priority item for them to work on. So you will have to make the best of choosing which projects you want to work on and be sure to check send work from other projects when none available from selected projects. |

Hi,
----------------------------------------There are a whole range of requests on weight and order or priority, but right now I think an option to not receive a particular project when alternate work is send when primary selection is not available as the most important. Some computers have trouble with e.g. HPF2, mostly failing immediately, but sometimes wasting hours or looping endlessly till time out. cheers

this has been asked for in the past and the general response seems to be in line with "People in **** want ice water too!"
----------------------------------------I wouldn't hold my breath. I suspect it's likely we'll all be dead and long gone before this ever gets addressed. To bad this is likely more truth than fiction. ![]() edited for language...cih [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Apr 7, 2009 1:17:35 PM] |

Yup, I suggested this as well as a "What If" idea.
Not thinking that it would be taken up anytime soon due to other higher priority items on the techs' plates. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=24164#212090 |

I will add my vote for a project priority option. We are volunteering here, I don't think it's too much to ask that we get to decide which projects we want to support to which extent.

I don't think it's too much to ask that we get to decide which projects we want to support to which extent. It is not because it would be "too much to ask" that this feature is not available yet, so there is no reason to place this discussion at this level. The WCG staff is perfectly aware of this request and understands it and the various reasons which support it. But since WCG is the only Boinc grid with so many projects all the work to do will be in their hands: modifications to Boinc servers, modifications to the website, etc... And as you can imagine this is not just a simple enhancement. And since the first condition for prioritizing projects in a grid is to have several running projects to offer we cannot blame them for placing new projects and a high reliability rate at the top of their priority list. Cheers. Jean. |

It makes sense perfect sense to prioritize reliability, for instance. Since I don't know much about the project (started running the client yesterday), I am happy to leave the prioritizing of development resources to those that do.
I am merely expressing a fond hope that user-selected priority to projects will be considered for inclusion within the next few years or so :), and to the extent this forum is an end user wish list (it is called "feedback", after all), this feature gets my vote. (Sorry if it came out wrong, English is not my native language.) |

(Sorry if it came out wrong, English is not my native language.) It's OK. Sorry too if I got it wrong, English is not my native language either. ![]() Jean.
