For some reason today I cannot open the WCG site on Safari 4 Beta for Windows. It has worked for the last month or so since Safari 4 was introduced, but not today. Today I get a "Failed to open page" error.

No problems at all here. The usual recommendations, clean cookies / cache, and boot. You came here posting so you must have found a way. AFAIK no new Website version was released.

I have had to use FireFox to get to the website.
Safari renders text so much nicer that any other browser looks like DOS now. |

How can you render text "nicer"?
I confess, in my brief encounter with Safari, I wasn't impressed. |

You'll have to try Safari and look at the same web page in another browser side by side. Other browsers have very pixelated text, where Safari's text is very smooth. It is much easier to read, at least for me.
Here is the text from the error I am getting in Safari: "Too many redirects occurred trying to open “http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/j_security_chk_wrapper”. This might occur if you open a page that is redirected to open another page which then is redirected to open the original page." Again, this just started to happen yesterday. As of Thursday of last week it worked fine. I was on vacation Friday, and didn't get back to my work computer until yesterday. |

Generally, that means that antialiasing isn't configured correctly in the operating system. I think I prefer text rendering that understands hinted fonts (that can display crisp text at very small sizes) and ClearType (that can do higher quality antialiasing on LCD screens) than simple built-in antialiasing.
As for your problem - I suggest you start by pasting http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/logout into the address bar. See if that works. The site had a few transient problems yesterday, so there may not be a Safari problem at all. |

The logging out and logging back in thing worked. I am writing this post from Safari, so it worked.
Not sure about the anti aliasing settings of the OS or where to set them. Thanks for the tip! Eric |

Just got upgraded to a Vista Ultimate box today and the text rendering between Firefox and Safari is the same.
Interesting! |

I think Vista has antialiasing enabled by default, but XP doesn't.

Problem is in "REMEMBER ME" box. Every time i click on "remember me" i have a same problem but without checking that box everything is OK.
I use Safari 4 Beta (i visited this page with Safari 3 & 4 before but everithing was fine until one day) Problem exist and has nothing to do with cookies ! |
