Something to look in to.......  To me it is all just a hobby, an expensive one, but still just a hobby.....True ...but I supplement my income by writing and selling specialized applications, most of which are 'one of' or written generically enough that I can resell them for different yet similar purposes; therefore I write the hardware depreciation and resources used off as deductions. As a professional writer, I get to depreciate my business machine, so seems sensible if you're usin' 'em to program...

As a professional writer, I get to depreciate my business machine, so seems sensible if you're usin' 'em to program... What about if you are speculating, say I start a business to buy computers with the idea they will be worth more in the future, can I write off the loss, with they depreciate? What about the power they consume while I wait for them to be worth more? (You have to keep them running to make sure they are still in working condition) It would be like loosing money with your business. Bet you there is a government grant for ideas like this.   |
