Work Units stuck in downloading status RESOLVED

Workunits seem to be stuck in "downloading" status on my laptop. I've aborted several but the next one does the same thing. Doen't seem to be a problem (yet) on my desktop machine.

Have 2 units stuck in this mode at the moment - and they've been that way for a hour or so

Re: Work Units stuck in downloading status

Can you please post the message log from BOINC. From the startup please as I'd also like to see the base memory and disk settings.

In the transfer tab of BOINC manager advanced view, is it stopping right at the very few bits, or is it managing a good bit before stopping?

What's your security software and is it doing anything?

ttyl

Re: Work Units stuck in downloading status

I believe suspending computation - on battery operation is the cause. It suspends networking immediately.

Re: Work Units stuck in downloading status

The on battery situation was temporary - it is now plugged in and the situation is the same

Re: Work Units stuck in downloading status

did a complete shutdown and reboot (not just a restart and problem went away)

Re: Work Units stuck in downloading status

Yes, interrupting active downloads/uploads does have hangups to go with it. There are various options in BOINC to restart a transmission.

1. Select the file in the transfer window and hit "retry"
2. In the Advanced menu there is a "do comms" or similar.
3. In projects selecting WCXG and hitting update.
4. A client restart and eventually
5. A boot.

Please edit your opening post and insert [RESOLVED] in the title, to close the case

Happy crunching.
