I am having a problem and am certainthat it is not a new problem. Would someone kindly advise me where to look for the solution (Help doesn't address the issue and I cannot seem to find a sesnible way of searching all the threads).
The problem is" one of my PCs downloads from WCG, does all th hard work of calculating the data, gets to 100% and then the Agent suddenly resets and downloads another set of tasks and does the same thing over and over. I donot know where the data is being sent to as it is not visible in my account". Please direct me to where the problemis resolved so that I donot bother any of you with having to repeat something that has already been addressed a million times before. Thanks |

Thank you for your prompt response. I actually have two users set up on two different PCs - RobSab and RobSab1 - the former is ok. The second user is not registering changes - hence my concern that data is getting lost. I will await the data cycle and see what happens.

RobSab,
Less than an hour till 0:00 UTC. If the statistics confirm that you have a problem, the first thing to try will be to uninstall WCG, reboot and then install WCG again. Sign in using whichever member name you want to, checking the 'previous member' box. Give your computer (device) a new name and it will appear as a second device under your login. Eventually (1 week or 2, depending on returned results) the old device name will age off your list and disappear, unless you use the device manager pull-down menu to change the default time limits. If that does not work, then we have more possibilities to explore. mycrofth |

Robert -- I wanted to emphasize that part of mycrofth's reply to you regarding checking the "previous member" box and signing in with one of your existing member names (probably RobSab). There is no need to use a different name each time you install the software. |

Thank you Lewis Carroll and mycrofth.
Reinstalled - same thing happened again. Then I found some information in the help section recommending to physically delete the \programs files\wcg\(whatever it is called\ directory with all the files AND reboot...... did it to the letter. Of course windows XP did not delete the files using the "windows XP uninstall function!... not suprised! I have reinstalled and logged in as the same existing user RobSab ... Will leave it to churn some data for a stat update and see if this does the trick. Wll let the old device name age off. RobertS |

I just want to say that I seem to have been having the same problems.
Over the past few weeks my agent has crunched the numbers to 100%, then for whatever reason, after contacting the home base, reset itself to zero and started to download new data. This has occurred at least 3 times in the past two weeks. I have been posting my problems under another post, so I will not continue here. Just wanted to post this, in case it would provide some clues to someone. Marc PS. I had to reinstall the agent on machine#2, and it seems to have fixed it there, for now. I'm now waiting for machine #1 to finish its crunching, and I will see what happens then. |

first success..... but what a long road it was. My comp #2 ( the problematic one) has been up and down like a yoyo all day. Loosing all work done and dowload another batch. I finally reloaded the XP device drivers one by one untill it stabelized.... it looks as though my logitech wireless mouse was causing the problem. The PC immediately settled down and posted the first results :)) My initial feeling was that Norton's antivirus was actually grabbing hold of the file created by the WCG agent..... but that has been proved wrong. I will let the PC churn, chew and spew out data for a few days and then I will let everyone know if it is stable with the new logitech driver. Thanks for the support guys..... wherever you are, whatever you are doing and whatever time zone you are in. ... meanwhile off to pull some ZZZZZZZZZZ myself. |

Sleep well, RobSab.
Thanks for keeping us informed. If this does turn out to be a solved problem, can you think of a way that we could help someone identify a similar problem on their computer? mycrofth |

Just discovered a new trick in this game - I was writing a new post (1/2 hr long) and I came to a point where I needed to fere to my device profiles. So I went to the Agent and clicked on "view your device list" on the main screen. The device screen opened in the same window as the post as I was writing.......... and I lost my post!
hmmm.. conclusion - shouldn't write such long and detailed posts! I will rewrite once I cool down a bit..... .....Hello Huston. Huston.....we have a problem! |
