Hello!
I am currently in school at UIC. We have pretty high connection speeds, but we have a bandwidth limit of 3 GB/24hr period. I was wondering if there was a way to limit the daily bandwidth so I wouldn't get kicked off the internet? Thanks!!! |

World Community Grid won't even account for a fraction of that. You have nothing to worry about.

Depending on the project selection and number of cores in a machine, it could run up to a couple hundred Mb a day. The tightest I think is/was FAAH.
----------------------------------------The amazing though is that the programmers have developed some very nifty predictive techniques. Sometimes tasks are generated on the computer, by a simple interaction with the servers who check who's done what seed / docking and flopping a few bits in a downloaded table on the volunteers computers. HPF2 and RICE have that function. No download, yet suddenly there is another random seed task to crunch 6 hours. cheers

I have a 60GB per month limit... I'm hoping I'll be fine as well?

Hello superalana,
You are fine - - as long as you have no more than a hundred computers. Lawrence |

I have a 60GB per month limit... I'm hoping I'll be fine as well? I survive quite happily on 2GB per month. ![]()

We have not had a power interruption for exactly 5 days now and the wifi router statistics page says 1.8gb received, for all and everything we do. That includes about 6 CPU days worth of average daily crunching for WCG. It's warming up, so it will be less soon.
