Connection Failed...Frustrated

My BOINC client used to run smoothly without any problem on my MBP (OS X 10.5.6). However, a week ago, it started not working, saying that "BOINC Manager is not able to connect to a BOINC client. Would you like to try to connect again?" If I click yes, it will try again "Connecting to localhost", then failed again.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall the app, but it still occurs.
I also tried then "Advanced-->Select Computer..." and leave those fields blank, still no response.
Please help/

Re: Connection Failed...Frustrated

Thanks for the quick reply....
The log repeated this message
"connect: Connection refused
connect: Operation now in progress
dyld: Library not loaded: /System/Library/Frameworks/IOKit.framework/Versions/A/IOKit
Referenced from: /Applications/BOINCManager.app/Contents/Resources/boinc
Reason: no suitable image found. Did find:
/System/Library/Frameworks/IOKit.framework/Versions/A/IOKit: stat() failed with errno=13"
My Mac's Firewall is turned off (allowing all incoming connections)
Checked the Activity Monitor, BOINC is running...

Re: Connection Failed...Frustrated

I'm afraid there seems to be something wrong with your OS installation.

But just in case the problem is less severe, you should try uninstalling and reinstalling BOINC (be sure to use the latest recommended version from here: BOINC 6.2.18 )

For reference: BOINC is trying to load a shared library, but the library isn't accessible to the BOINC process (stat() failed with errno=13 - Permission denied).

I'm afraid we have few Mac experts here. The only option I can offer you is reinstalling your operating system.

Re: Connection Failed...Frustrated

Hi wesleykwan,

Yes, 6.615 is ALPHA. It does a better job at computing Time to Complete too... minor but important cosmetic to those 'watching it closely'.

BOINC mgr needs free pass through localhost (IP 127.0.0.1) plus a couple of ports such as 31416 to be able to (using RPC protocol) talk to the core client (CC). As your core client was running, you were crunching alright. Using the boinccmd tool, don't know if that's available on Mac, you could also have interacted with the CC to check on progress. Obviously, the Result Status page would have told you if results were still flowing, but guess you found out about that already.

Anyway, good for you and happy crunching, again.

Re: Connection Failed...Frustrated

Hi there, just another problem.
I checked my "Result Status" page, and found that some Results are reported as "Error". Then I click and check the "Name" and "Status".
The error log showed
"<core_client_version>6.6.15</core_client_version>
And the projects log showed
<core_client_version>5.10.32</core_client_version> ...
<core_client_version>5.10.45</core_client_version>...
<core_client_version>6.4.5</core_client_version>..
<core_client_version>6.2.18</core_client_version>..
<core_client_version>6.2.12</core_client_version>..
and etc.

I suspect that this is due to the the problem of installing/reinstalling/uninstalling two different versions of BOINC, is there any way to solve this problem?

Thanks!
