Yes, the orphaning of Rice jobs or cycling, fetching new work all the time after few minutes I have on 1 XP duo under 6.2 and 6.6. Under 5.10.45 they run fine, so that's the client I start if wanting to do some of the NRW project. Why? No idea.

Re: Boinc quitting

My other mac pro is running 5.10 with no problems so will downgrade as soon as this batch is done. Will the uninstall remove everything or do I still need to manually delete a few files?

Re: Boinc quitting

Bearcat,

best you uninstall first, but you dont have to Mac Uninstall http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Uninstalling_BOINC . It should leave any data in tact, but running dry before doing so is optimal. Allows you to delete all the control files like client_stat_xxxx.xml and cc_config.xml and global_pref_xxx.xml if left behind. They will hold code lines that only work in 6 and would lead to spurious warning messages in 5.

cheers

Added: Graphics for all the WCG sciences are build to work with the different model of 6, thus wont work under 5. That was the word 6 months ago.

Re: Boinc quitting

Down graded to 5.10. Seems fine so far. Still having problems getting wu's. It will grab 6 wu's, then get get 1 or 2 at a time with an occasional message stating "no wu's sent, check your preferences", but then goes back to one or 2 more. Could it be not allot of wu's for the mac platform?
