BOINC Manager will not pull down work

I have BOINC Manager set to pull down 6 days worth of work (in case my internet connection decides to go down it has work to do).

I have two boxes running 6.2.28. Neither will pull down work. I change the number of days to keep i queue, but it won't pull anything down.

One of my quads has done nothing since last night. I have another that will pull down work one at a time if I manually update.

Is there a bug in 6.2.28 that causes this? One of the quads has had 6.2.28 for a few weeks and only till this morning did it have an issue. The second quad was installed just this last week.

Any thoughts?

Hi Yuri. As can be seen in the log you posted the requests actually succeeded on sunday 8 March. Saturday WCG suffered an SSL connection problem that has since been resolved. This probably explains the failed attempts on Saturday 7 March.

As for your client requesting 0 work units, this is because your client thinks it has sufficient work.

If BOINC manager is set to pull down multiple days worth of work (ie, 5 or 6), then it should have more than one or two in the queue.

My message tab does look like Yuri's. I understand the SSL issue, but that has been resolved. This issue has corrected itself on one of my quads, but is still an issue on the other. I have also tried 6.4.7 (latest BOINC version) and it also has the issue.

Re: BOINC Manager will not pull down work

Hi, capreppy.

If BOINC runs out of work without this issue resolving itself, then follow these steps:

1. Make sure all tasks have been uploaded and reported.
2. Stop and exit BOINC completely.
3. In your data directory, delete client_state.xml and client_state_prev.xml
4. Restart BOINC.

Re: BOINC Manager will not pull down work

I have a similar problem. BOINC will not Queue up any work. I have connect about every = 0.3 and additional work buffer = 7. I am running 6.4.5. It is a quad and 4 tasks are always running, but no work is in the Queue. Also all of the tasks show running high priority, even though the deadline for the WUs is 12 days in the future which does not seem right. It looks like it dpes not get any work until it needs it. Even after uploading a completed work unit, it does not get any new work to Queue up.

3/9/2009 4:53:32 PM|World Community Grid|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. Requesting 0 seconds of work, reporting 1 completed tasks
3/9/2009 4:53:37 PM|World Community Grid|Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks

But no work downloads until a processor is free.

Re: BOINC Manager will not pull down work

Follow the advise above your post. Various control values that are dynamically adjusted in the client_state.xml are stopping you from getting work before current tasks have finished.
