Next release suggestions

I am new to this.

Some comments so far:

1. I agree with the earlier post - adjustable CPU partitioning would be good. At the mo, it is all or nothing + snooze. which is limited choice. When I work, I need some CPU but not all.

2. More flexible profies. I would like to set it up to run between 5PM and 8AM. I seem to be unable to do this as start time has to be before end time :)
Again. I would like to expose 100% resouces at nite and less resources during working hours.

3. An additional true benefit to the community would be making the intelectual property behind this freely available. The code shuold be open sourced.

Re: Next release suggestions

I already have a post relating to this in another thread, but I keep seeing this same sort of post so I'd like to clarify so that the moderators don't lump my point in with the arguement:

You shouldn't be wanting adjustable CPU partitioning because when you're doing work "you need those cycles." Because this project runs at a very low priority, any other work that you try to do will get access to the CPU before this project. If you are doing something that needs 100%, you will get the 100% and this project will get ~nothing. The only potential performance concern I see is that you may end up needing to swap pages in and out of memory on systems with severe memory limitations.

I'd like to be able to adjust CPU utilization for power savings purposes. Prescott cores just get too hot to be cooled quietly at 100% utilization using currently-available heatsink/fan combos.

Phadrus,
One way to implement #2, running between 5pm and 8am is to set up the agent to run only as a screen saver.

Then set the UD agent as your default screen saver, kicking in after 5 or 10 minutes of idle time.

Then, don't use that computer between 5pm and 8am. The agent screensaver will kick in.

At 8am or so, start using the computer and the UD agent will stop running.
