Evening all
----------------------------------------The rain didn't seriously appear and so I enjoyed painting the local BT junction boxes. Many people passing by stopped to find out what was going on and chat with locals brightened my day. I can't get too upset about the venal politicians because the general malaise strikes me more. So many people seem to think that laws or rules are in principle OK but don't really apply to them. So, many motorists speed in our 25 mph zone and could kill someone. Others still drive past in an area with junior schools while talking on their mobile. When I walk to the supermarket, there will always be some who park on the bus stops because they are incapable of walking a 100 yards to the store front. The upper tiers of bankers seem venal and it's generally those in parliament who seem to be equally venal. The MPs who still will not take more than the wage they received as a fireman out of principle, don't get a mention in the press. That's not a story. If we've been in business, we all knew people who fiddled their expenses and the degree doesn't make it any more acceptable. I think my concern is more that our elected representatives were blind enough not to see what was obviously going to come to light and, regardless of party, take no action. They have all known for some time that by July this year, everything would be made public. All the leak to the press achieved was to bring forward this date. No party, however, took the steps to realize the enormity of what would happen and clean up their act beforehand. I want a government that thinks ahead and doesn't start to act once the disaster has already happened. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at May 16, 2009 5:45:48 PM] |

Good morning all.......I promise to be more positive and cheerful for the next couple of posts The 'current bun' has put in an appearance and looking out of my window the garden is starting to look glorious once again, the Montana is in full bloom and looks wonderful along the fence, underneath the orangey yellow of the Potentilla gives a warm feeling of summer coupled with the cool blue of Fairy-Bells in the border! My old friends the ducks have started to visit the brook once more and the squirrels are trying to take up residence in the attic, the Broom in my neighbours garden has ceased to flower so no more migraine attacks.Oh It's the simple things in life that bring such joy................ Have a peaceful sunny day all................... Old 'Optimistic' Sage ![]() |

pimply sissning with rain here ![]() Here too! And I am going to a birthday party this afternoon which is meant to be mainly outside!! I wanted to creep away to the TV this afternoon to see the first opening of the roof on the Centre Court at Wimbledon If it is still raining everyone will be inside and I will probably have to fight my way in Think I will get my daughter to organise it as she will be just as eager as me to see this event (and it is at her in-laws after all) ![]() |

Damon the thought s behind (Tony's Old Sage's) rant in case you were not aware across the pond that all of a sudden all the members of parliament who claim expenses have been found to have been less than honest with the claims. Some thing that surprises us in the UK (NOT) Tony feels the same as I do lets go get the Swine take their snouts outa the trough and make them sit again for the seat they hold I know already..... we shouldn't talk politics and or religion its too contensiouse I just feel powerless to get the buggers out of office wo apart from going down to the smoke and beating against number tens door I dont know what to do. The blooming jock in there hasn't a clue ................. how do we get rid of a money grabbing group of MP's all seem to be tarred with the same brush .......................... Dad died for the Comen wealth in 1942 Mum washed floors to raise me with clothes on my back and food in my belly very little help from the state (I wasnt the only child that grew up on bread and scrape) then you see these Crap politico's claiming for Food bills £400.00 per month I spit on them I really do makes me so mad Dens I found out later yesterday, in the news, what he was ranting about. But thanks anyway for the clarification. I may not be a Britainer but I'm definitely on your side. With all that's going on over here, I think it's high time that the higher ups get knocked down a notch or 10. I'm sick and tired of the oil companies and banks running the world.
One drop raises the sea.
