"Rise and shine" Get your "tiddley suits" on before you "go for a Burton "
----------------------------------------I wonder if those younger than us still know what the devil we are going on about, ,Rhyming slang is it age related to certain period ? Going for a Ruby can have no meaning for I would think those younger than 35/40?? certain terms lose meaning also "give you a bell" ? "Dogs" dont have bells nowdays, ringtones yes....... Brown bottle shop ???? maybe wear your best "whistle."....... as you go dahn the "frog" & Unless you are "brassic" your "Sky" will be full of beer tokens . You might get pulled by the scuffers, bogies, Bobbies or peelers. and slammed up in the Bridewell.your "Plates of meat" wont touch which might be a relife if you have walked far as your "dogs might be barking" Have to go now as its looking "very black over our annies " Infact its as "black as Alice's Hat band" TTFN |

"Rise and shine" Get your "tiddley suits" on before you "go for a Burton " I wonder if those younger than us still know what the devil we are going on about, ,Rhyming slang is it age related to certain period ? I have a West Indian friend whom we fondly call 23-59hrs if you ask where he comes from he will reply "Westham brother" he is 68yrs young and born here, both he and his young 'uns speak cockney Rhyming slang, apparently it is as popular today as yesteryear. I have two other friends known fondly as 'Midnight' and 'Twilight', they are all as old as we, but I wonder in this political correct society we now live in, if like a certain Royal Prince that the peelers might knock on my door to re-educate me? ![]() I served along side these guys and trusted them with my life, and to this day we have remained loyal buddies. My nickname incidently was DINGO yes a dog ( I speak with an Australian cockney accent) but I never ever took offence of this term of endearment and to this day at reunions I am still remembered by this name. Evening all
A warm day so a pleasant walk to Sainsbury's where I wonder how to tell the birds and the squirrels that we're in recession and if it goes on I may have to cut down on their food. Well, they didn't get us into this mess so it will probably be one of the last things to cut back on. Have a good weekend y'all. |
