Pick whichever team looks good to you. You can always change teams later if you like, but any points earned while a member of a team will stay with that team. You can even create your own team if nothing appeals to you.
Just about any team will be glad to have you join except the Groucho Marx team which refuses to accept anyone who would want to become a member (to paraphrase Groucho). - D |

Hello Saggydog
----------------------------------------A couple of ways of deciding: 1. Search all the teams on Grid to see if there are any teams that you would naturally feel a part of, based on perhaps where you live, what job you do/the company you work for or any other group that crunches on behalf of a particular theme (hobbies, politics, religion, favourite websites, etc). You can find a team by searching here: My Team - Find a Team 2. Alternatively, lurk around on the team board for a bit and see if any of the recruiting threads interest you. There are lots of great people on the forums and lots of teams to consider who are actively recruiting. There's no rush to join a team, but I'm sure that any team would be glad to have you. |

Folks are right. You can do well with any team. Still, trying to find one that fits your interests is usually good. I crunched for a good while before joining a team. Being part of a team gains you nothing in terms of the points you get but you can get a lot from a team. I know folks from all over the world and not just folks on my team. I continue to learn from them still and will for quite some time to come. We're here for usually very similar reasons so there's a real comraderie.

TBH it doesn't matter much which team you are in. I joined the Vulture Central team purely because I found out about WCG in an article on The Register (an on-line IT news site with a vulture for its mascot) and joined the Vultures as recognition and thanks for helping me find WCG.
----------------------------------------I could have joined a scottish team, the UK team,or any number of other teams for any number of reasons, but it wasn't that important to me. What was important to me was contributing to the science and discovery of new ways to help cure our ailments. [Edit 1 times, last edit by widdershins at Feb 14, 2009 1:44:08 PM] |

Well saggydog, you've gotten lots of good advice here in response to your question. Let me go a step further though and, since the point of the Team forum is to recruit members, invite you to join us at MyOnlineTeam. We'd love to have another member from Singapore! If you have any questions first, feel free to ask us over in our team thread at Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 32

The best thing to do when picking a team, is look at its presentation. The first post by the captain should do the trick. If you feel hoohum about what you see, then keep going until you find one that makes you want to jump out of your chair, stand sharply at attention and salute.

Hey, saggydog, just a pick a Team. Any Team. From your Country, your interests, etc. Many Teams here have informative open "Distributive Computing" forums.
----------------------------------------This is really an easy thing to do. Good Luck and Happy Crunching! Edit: I had to make a few edits. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ---------------------------------------- [Edit 6 times, last edit by Johnny Cool at Feb 23, 2009 2:19:46 AM] |
