Hi!
Could please anyone help me? On searching "Ressource Share", "Project Share", "Ressource Share not recognized" or "Project Share not recognized" I couldn't find something useful, so I'm opening up this thread. Though my BOINC-Client recognizes the WCG project and shows me generated Credit, my profile site ("My Grid") doesn't show any of them at all. And even though my Computers are listed under "Devices" and have their ressource share assigned to 500, their client software only shows 100 (their default settings). First I thought I had to wait and see, but since I set it up yesterday and nothing has changed yet, I'm begging for your Help. In both cases, my name is correctly shown as "Krabs". Something that probably correlates with this problem is the fact that my BAM! AM always shows "No answer from project". Any ideas? |

Please will you copy your startup messages from the Messages tab and paste them here.
Have you used the Update button to force BOINC to get the altered preferences? There is an outstanding problem with device profiles at the moment, so it is possible this is out of your hands. But please try the things I suggested first. Thank you. |

Hi, probably the discussion in this thread http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=24443 on same from yesterday provides you the answer.
----------------------------------------Note, BAM i think is not authorised to change the Project Weight / Resource share at WCG directly. You have to do it in the My Grid > Device Manager > Device Profile.
WCG

So, thanks for posting the link to that thread, but I've read that one before posting this, but it's no solution to my problem.
----------------------------------------Well, I have force-updated WCG a few times now, restarted the client and so on, but nothing helped yet. I think I'll have to go the other way round and cut the ressource share of those other few projects i run, as the RS of WCG ist not recognized. To repeat in case you missed my added note, BAM is not allowed to write to the WCG device profiles like it's allowed to do to your other projects. Changing /Reducing the Project Weight as it's called here at the other projects is most certainly a solution.

We have limited support for BAM. If you tried updating the resource share using BAM, that wouldn't work.
However, I also heard that BAM had been having problems communicating with WCG recently. Did you force BAM to reread your WCG preferences? So, who knows? Your solution of changing the other weights instead is probably best. |

I see you run some heavy projects like climateprediction. their Wus consume much time.
----------------------------------------there is a solution. 1) on all other projects set "no more work". 2) suspend other running WUs in the cache 3) increase cache days 4) force update WCG project |

I did what Didactylos suggested already manually, w/o BAM!. So if I look up my "default" profile in WCG, there it already reads "500" in the RS field. But I'll try that other stuff.
----------------------------------------:/ But really: Thanks for all these fast replies! [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Feb 5, 2009 8:59:47 PM] |
