Hi all,
It looks to me that after updating to the latest version of BOINC the device name is reported differently now. Before it was the machine name with the fully qualified name name included (example, PC-A.web.businessname.com) now it's just the machine name (PC-A). My report now shows two devices having reported results is there a way to combine these into one device? It's not a big deal but I have lost some history of devices that have been reporting for awhile and now show a small number of results having started over. Thanks! |

I've seen this before where at times the ISP or host network name comes along with the device name. You say updating... from which to which version? (sorry my memory is blank had you posted that info before).

It was updated from the latest version 5 version (I forgot what that was now) to the latest version 6.2.28. You are right it has the ISP fully qualified domain name in it.

Possibly it was an undocumented feature that was fixed in 6.2.28. WCG did quite a bit to streamline the network portions of the client, which is why the rest were on 6.2.19.
----------------------------------------Combining devices is at the present time not possible. Already WCG took measures trying to re-identify "new" clients against those already on record. If there was already work on the device before upgrading, I'd imagine it to have been easier. Upgrading is as easy as just running the package. It will stop any running client for you, do the update and restart the client and continue work where it was interrupted.
