GPUgrid CUDA

hello everyone

As you all can see i am very new to the world community grid.
But i am trying hard to return many results.
And so i was reading about how GPUgrid CUDA can increase calculation speed.

I updated my boinc version to 6.4.5. and i have an NVidea GeForce 9650M GT 1GB with the latest drivers (Version: 179.28) supporting also CUDA.

now i was searching for nearly an hour inside forums, how can i activate cuda for boinc. but somehow i don't know how. there seems to be no new option inside of boinc to activate it.

So how do i do it? because i rad everywhere that the new version of boinc supports CUDA.

Please help me :)

with kind regards

marcel

A full and complete search in these forums will result in MANY posts telling you that WCG does not now support CUDA. If you are running other projects, please look to support from those projects. Please do not start another thread on this forum about WCG and CUDA as that idea has been exhausted for some time to come.

Re: GPUgrid CUDA

Hi marcel,

As you've surely discovered there are many threads discussing GPU/Grid computing on our forums. If you want to do it now you need to go to for instance GPUGRID. WCG is not doing any of this yet, maybe in half a year, maybe later, all depends on how well the software can be converted to produce the same results as on a regular CPU. The client is not stable and am told that every new release is doing it better, but that you have to fetch at Berkeley.

In passing I saw the latest NVidia drivers, 181.22 do a better job too.

cheers

Re: GPUgrid CUDA

Quite frankly, BOINC does it automatically if the project supports it. When you first launch BOINC, under messages you will see whether BOINC detects a CUDA or not. If it does, then it will use the CUDA when the project allows it. SETI also uses CUDA and Einstein was in the works the last I checked.

That is not completely accurate. Ubuntu and CUDA run virtually flawlessly together, evidenced by mine and others successful completion of available work at GPUgrid.
