I was also lucky and collected a few BETAs. Right now, three of them have completed successfully in ~12h30m, while one of them has errored with the following message from BOINC: Fri 30 Jan 2009 07:37:44 WET|World Community Grid|Computation for task BETA_E000338_173A_002513011_0 finished Fri 30 Jan 2009 07:37:44 WET|World Community Grid|Output file BETA_E000338_173A_002513011_0_2 for task BETA_E000338_173A_002513011_0 absent Fri 30 Jan 2009 07:37:44 WET|World Community Grid|Output file BETA_E000338_173A_002513011_0_3 for task BETA_E000338_173A_002513011_0 absent Forgot to say that the error came up after over 9 hours of crunching time, and without nothing that would justify it (at least according to my machine's logs) |

I received my first CEP Linux Beta WU last night with a 16+ hours ETA. It successfully completed in just over 14 hours and the companion WU completed in just over 17 hours. Both were validated so maybe the issues with CEP WU's on the Linux platform are nearly resolved so we can also participate in this project

It's certainly looking a lot better than the previous attempts at getting CEP working. So far of the 8 units I sent back none have errored, 6 validated and 2 are still pending.
There are a few errors being reported in this thread, but I'm not sure that's a particular linux/mac issue, errors are still being reported for windows CEP units so may be a red herring and just a bad unit that was sent out. No doubt the tecs will be able to tell more when all the units have been sent back. |

Forgot to say that the error came up after over 9 hours of crunching time, and without nothing that would justify it (at least according to my machine's logs) ... There are now 3 errors returned for this particular WU, one successful result and one user still crunching. Could you please post the Result Log of this WU (click on "Error" in your Results Status page) here to let us see what kind of error messages are reported. Or say that it does not contain any error message if this is so. This way other members with a WU in error can see if it falls in the same category or not. Thank you in advance. Jean. |

Ok, Jean. Here's the error log:
WU: BETA_E000338_173A_002513011 <core_client_version>6.4.5</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> process exited with code 29 (0x1d, -227) </message> <stderr_txt> Calling gridPlatform.init() Calling initGraphics() INFO: No state to restore. Start from the beginning. Encountered error. Exiting. </stderr_txt> ]]> There are now 4 Error results for this particular WU and only 1 Valid result. It looks like that this WU will be travelling through a lot of computers... |

You're on 6.4.5 and, this is your error:
----------------------------------------ERR_RMDIR -227 In BOINC 6.0 and above: Remove (delete) directory failed. Note that the replication / distribution of a task stops when 7 errors have been reached. In principle you should see no more results going with a time-stamp greater than the return time of that 7th error.

6.2.14 (the current package for Ubuntu 8.10 ).Cheers. Jean. Dead easy to install so it can be upgraded manually if you want to. (off topic I know, but say so if you want a hand) ![]() Currently being moderated under false pretences |
