statistic data on worldcommunitygrid.org vs on grid.org

Dear Members,

I was wondering on the net, searching for info about grid computations in general, when I found out that the human proteome foldig project can be found on the worldcommunitygrid.org, but also on grid.org.
The two sites look very similar, the sponsors are the same, and there are links between the sites.
The statistics of the two sites on the folding project, however, are very different.
What does it mean? Is the folding projet running in two instances (for more trustable result), or is the quantity of the work units diveded between the sites?
Why are there two different sites serving the same cause?

Thanks for your anserw in advance!

Re: statistic data on worldcommunitygrid.org vs on grid.org

The WCG and Grid.org are two seperate organizations. WCG is run by IBM and Grid.org is run by United Devices in Austin Texas.

The Rosetta app and the data for the HPF project come from the Institue for Systems Biology in Seattle WA.

Re: statistic data on worldcommunitygrid.org vs on grid.org

For an overview of the project please read this FAQ.

The two grid websites have a little different focus. World Community Grid is specifically focused on grid projects that will provide a humanitarian benefit and has a requirement that the data generated from the projects run on the grid be publicly available (more information about this is located in the information about submitting a proposal ).

Both World Community Grid and grid.org are currently working on the Human Proteome Folding project together. The work units are divided between the two grids so there is no duplication of effort due to the work being run on both grids. The results are merged back together and provided to the Institute for System Biology.

In the future, each grid will have their own projects.
