Output file me411_00020_12_0 for task me411_00020_12 absent
I receive the same message as above for 50% of my HPF2 WUs, even after resetting the project and resetting BOINC. Can someone help me identify the problem and/or resolve the issue (especially as this work remains uncreditable and I'm looking forward to a bronze badge)? If it helps, I'm running Vista + SP1 on a dual-processor with other WCG projects and other BOINC projects -- without problems. |

This is in my latest experience on Quad+Vista 32 + HPF2 + 6.2 boinc a quite probable security software issue. My machine started eating through them, but at the 7th task, right after adding the new IP addresses to the AV and excluding the boinc data_dir from scanning, they started running fine. It's quite save to do that with BOINC 6.2 when the rest of the security defense is properly set up.
----------------------------------------For Rice on XP, I'm fairly sure for longer that it is BOINC 6.2 being part of the problem. I've got 3 installs on that machine and 5.10.45 does them fine. The security software is the same. Resetting, attaching / detaching, deleting all control files before fetching work made no change for 6.2. Only Rice would crash within minutes. 2 Euro cents

I'm seeing this 'output file absent' message too. On two different machines so far, both Vista 64, one with an AMD quad core and one with an AMD dual core.

If I look through the list of downloaded files, for this and other projects, I can usually connect the dots between the downloaded file name and the task in the 'Starting task' messages. A cursory look-see in the messages window for the files associated to these two task came up empty. I know that isn't conclusive. It's just a quick bit of scanning that I did. I'll leave it to the project techs to determine what, if anything, that it means. RMau ![]() |

This "output file absent" message is usually the consequence of a problem, not the cause.
----------------------------------------To know more about the original problem you have to look at the Result Log for the task in error. From the Results Status page click on the word "Error", look for particular error messages and please paste them here in your report. This is the only way for us to know if it is a known problem or a new one. Cheers. Jean. |

Okay, here is the error for the 239 task.
----------------------------------------<core_client_version>6.4.5</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> Incorrect function. (0x1) - exit code 1 (0x1) </message> <stderr_txt> ERROR:: Exit at: .\dock_structure.cc line:401 </stderr_txt> ]]> and the 242 task. <core_client_version>6.4.5</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> Incorrect function. (0x1) - exit code 1 (0x1) </message> <stderr_txt> ERROR:: Exit at: .\dock_structure.cc line:401 </stderr_txt> ]]> Another observation, not all of the HPC tasks are failing. For instance, mf147_ 00046_ 11-- finished with a 'Valid' result on 2/1. RMau ![]() |

Well, I guess this issue with HPF must be isolated to me and my Vista-64 machines. So I've shut off the HPF project and I'll concentrate on the others. I'm spending too much machine time that only produces 'Error' results.

It's very much a HPF2+Vista isolated issue and not for everyone. Looking forward to hearing if the Windows 7 beta testers can get it to run in regular or Vista compatibility mode. Got the iso image, now need to decide which PC to break ;?
