[Resolved] Project with Single Quorum distribution

Any ideas why the projects with a single quorum distribution send initial replication of 1 to my single CPUs and my duo, but send out ones with initial replication of 2 to my Quad?

Re: Project with Single Quorum distribution

Scribe,

There are two possible reasons...1, your machine is covering for an error machine, 2, errors on your machine.

Your Quad may be a very reliable host and is used to check machines that have errors common with them. Basically your the opposite of reason 2 :)

Does your Quad encounter errors more frequently than the other two machines? This could cause BOINC to send out replication of 2.

It's a brand new Quad. I was wondering if when a new multi core 'arrived', nothing was known about it so Boinc did a Min 2 WU replication until it was 'sure' the machine was ok?

If it is crunching short WUs that should take less than one day. When the servers will have received several of its tasks without any problem they will start sending Single Quorum tasks.

Since it is based on a number of tasks it is obvious that if your quad is profiled for longer WUs (e.g. HPF2 or CEP) that might take longer.

On last Friday after upgrading the Linux side of my quad to Ubuntu 8.10 and replacing my single user Boinc 5.10.45 with the (currently standard there) 6.2.14 as a service it happened that a new WCG device was created. After validating 24 WUs of this new device the servers have begun to send it Single Quorum WUs.

Cheers. Jean.

Re: Project with Single Quorum distribution

Yeah I just added a "new" machine to crunch dddt jobs and noticed that the servers had not deemed my machine trustworthy yet.
My "new" machine is an Athlon 64 3200+ no brand new quads for me sad
Maybe after Uncle Sam gives me my small fraction of tax dollars back I can beg the wife for a bigger allowance biggrin
