Only one processor being used on a multi-processor system

Hi there,

After recently installing BOINC on my dual processor MBP 2.2 GHz (running Win XP Pro SP2), both processors were being used at 100% (I had explicitly set it so). However, now only one processor is being used, despite having gone into preferences and setting so that both should be used:

"On multi-proc systems, use at most 100% of the processors."
"Use at most 100% CPU time."

In Windows Task Manager, I have two processes called "wcgrid_cep1_6.19_windows_intelx86" running at the same time, but only one is using around 50% of the total CPU capacity. The other process with the same name is using 0%; System Idle Proc is also at 50%.

I'd like both of the wcgrid processes to be using 50% each, so close to or at 100%.

Any ideas what I may be missing?

Thanks,
Jens

Re: Only one processor being used on a multi-processor system

Hello JensGerbitz,
One of the CEP bugs is a task that does not compute. Progress stays at 0% even though the status is Running. The only known cure is to abort it. We hope the project scientists will track this and other bugs down and fix them. Some people, to avoid aggravation, choose to run other projects but not CEP.

I sympathize with them. biggrin
