Re: Thread Sleep/Background Mode to save overheating CPU

If computer temperature is a problem, why not add a case fan or two? My computer (purpose-built) has not only the usual processor fans, but THREE case fans. These were only £2.87 each, and with more fans you can run each at less than maximum speed, so they don't make too much noise anyway. I have a Gigabyte motherboard which enables me to monitor fan speeds and warn me of excess temperatures using the Gigabyte software 'Easytune 4'.
Costs in Nov 2003 were :
Gigabyte GA-7NNXPV motherboard £147.00
XP2400+ AMD Athlon processor £59.71
1 x Thermaltake A1365 CPU heatsink/fan (to XP2800+)
with thermal paste sachet £2.87
3 x Thermaltake A1365 just for variable speed case fans £8.61 (heatsinks removed)

Re: Thread Sleep/Background Mode to save overheating CPU

The software is using 100% of the CPU IDLE time. Why wouldn't it be healthy running it all the time?
