I don't think I told you all that I was able to bring back my "My Book" 500 Gig drive through a power reset, but that worked for me. No loss of 10 years of digital photos or my iTunes database (nearly 80 Gig). I did learn my lesson, however and have purchased a Western Digital 2TB My Book Studio Edition II External Hard Drive. It has an eSATA interface, so I also got an eSATA card and cable. I plan to use it in a RAID 1 configuration. Additionally, my most critical files will be backed up weekly to my old 500 Gig drive. It is amazing how stupid you feel if you lose a drive without appropriate backup!
