Boinc 6.4.5

I upgraded to Boinc 6.4.5 and installed it and ever since then it refuses to request new tasks. It just says:

Requesting 0 seconds of work, got 0 new tasks.

Any ideas to fix this?

Re: Boinc 6.4.5

There is no good reason to upgrade to BOINC 6.4.5.

It has no new features except support for GPU projects, and introduces new major bugs (known bugs, and I expect more will be found).

Downgrade.

Use the WCG recommended version, not the versions available from Berkeley.

Re: Boinc 6.4.5

I had the same thing.

After searching my eventlogs I found out there is a problem with the boinc user (I don't have access rights it says.)
Uninstall Boinc, reinstall Version 6.4.5, but during installation, DO NOT chose to run boinc under an alternative account, but let it run under your credentials.

Re: Boinc 6.4.5

Reading at Berkeley, the 6.4.5 version contains the 6.2 BOINC Manager and features. Am entirely unclear if this is the 6.2.19 equivalent GUI release or the one that WCG advanced through version 6.2.28.

As to no work being requested, one other reason could be that WCG has currently used up all it's computing time. If only WCG is computed, reset that project.

Unfortunatelly WCG aren't the only project that I'm running under BOINC and now I start running with GPU features. So I will continue with 6.4.5 version.

Just to record, until now I don't identify any distinct errors between versions compared with 6.2.28 which I continue running is one machine.
The only difference that is remarcable appear be the way that 6.4.5 manage the WU's queue compared with 6.2.28.

If any distinction appear for me, I will report. coffee

The point is that 6.4.5 is not supported by WCG. If you feel the need to use it, the go ahead, but you cannot expect much, if any, help from WCG since they do not recommend the version. You can't have it both ways.

Re: Boinc 6.4.5

Hello astrolab,
You can't have it both ways.

angel
Sure, you can!
Just expect some grumbling on our part because of the pot full of bugs that have not been worked out of 6.4 yet. We are not eager for more work (puzzles and conundrums).
