Thread: No CEP WU's Sent My Way, so Why? |

How long have WU's for the Clean Energy Project been sent out for crunching? Reason I ask is I have yet to receive one WU for this project even though all my profiles have this project selected for me to crunch.

Mac/Linux work units should be sent out soon, but currently only Windows hosts are getting WUs. It should be soon, we're all crossing our fingers.

There are several very annoying problems currently under investigation by the techs.

Ah, thanks for the replies. It appears then it is a possible platform related issue and/or a problem with project itself. I do have one XP system working on this as well and even it has not gotten a CEP WU as of yet :).

I am still getting CEP WU's. Sometimes they dry up but they seem to return in short order.

Greetings,
There are multiple reasons you may not get a work unit for CEP. Here are a few common ones that are happening. 1...Currently the CEP project has a very low weight in the hopper. (Note: The numbers I'm about to give you are purely made up as I do not know the exact values). What this means is that if we have 100 slots in the hopper for project work units. CEP only has 1 of those getting filled each time the hopper is filled. While the other projects on World Community Grid are filling up the remaining 99 slots. This hopper is filled every 30 seconds or so based on how fast work is being sent out. This is probably the reason most members are not seeing new CEP work units. 2...We currently do not have Mac or Linux running CEP at the moment. We are working on testing them in alpha and beta at the moment. So members with those platforms will only see CEP work units when beta work units are available. 3...The computer does not qualify for the project. This will also prevent computers from participating in a project if they do not have enough memory or space on their machines. This one is less likely as most of our projects are about the same demand in those categories. 4...A member has changed their individual device profile to only run certain projects which overrides the My Projects profile on the website. So Please check both your default device preferences and My Projects page to make sure that CEP is selected on both pages. -Uplinger |
