Re: Current CEP bugs / problems

I got a WU that got an error in the logs and came out Inconclusive somehow. Is this another error of some sort?

Re: Current CEP bugs / problems

hmmm, yes no this is not a new error. The next science release should bump results with this report into invalid status.

Lawrence, maybe you could inject the error line into your opening post, point 2 i think

[ERROR] Failed to open either source or destination files while copying wcgrestart.rst to ../../projects/www.worldcommunitygrid.org/E000042_595A_00054700d_1_3. Error: 2

Re: Current CEP bugs / problems

Since i installed BOINC for CEP i had the weirdest BSOD i've ever seen:

Application Attempting to write to ROM

+ the usual incomprehensible statements by MS

My last BSOD was over 6 months ago and was a hardware problem

Neither the error message, nor me, are saying that BOINC did that i'm only saying i've never seen it before, (my first puter was a ZX81, Running WinXP since the day of official release)

Could it be related to BOINC or could anyone tell me what could have caused this error?

Many thanks in advance
(learning something new (almost) every day keeps you young wink )

Re: Current CEP bugs / problems

Application Attemting to write to ROM

Is it possible that BOINC tries to write to your CD/DVD drive, because Boinc is thinking that data directory is stored on that drive letter?

Re: Current CEP bugs / problems

3) The CHARMM molecular mechanics package developed by the Karplus group at Harvard University and used by CEP is an enormous Fortran program, much larger than the HCC program. Just like the original HCC program, it is running a very large number of page faults under 'some' circumstances. Running more than one instance on a computer appears to exacerbate this problem. But because the program is so large, tracking these inefficiencies down and trying to correct them is probably going to be a last-priority issue for a while.

Could this cause some instabilities on a Win Server 2008 box? Is it somehow possible to see if this has been occured with my CEP WU?

Regards,

Harreld.
