Nearly no change in % of progress / increase in computing time

Hi,
i´m using wcg with all projects and everything works fine.
But since some days i´ve my first "Clean Energy" project and it is horrible...

First the assumed total time for the project were aprox. 12h.
Now the project run for about 8,5h and there are remaining 7,5h left.
And i run it allone with the same amount of CPU power since beginning.

I guess that the project calculates the time/progress/everything wrong.
Because let´s only look at today. I used my laptop (Dual-Core 2 GHz) for aprox. 6 hours constantly for work (office: outlook, word, excel) and the progress % increased from 53,2xx to 53,400%.
The used CPU time increased only by 1 or 2 hours (unfortunately i cannot remember the time when it starts this morning)

So i run more then 20-25 hours in realtime for this project and it says: used CPU time: 8,5h

Whats wrong? No other project has this problems/side effects and i´m thinking about to cancel the project and just run other wcg projects...

But maybe you can help me with some advice?

Best regards,
Oliver

OliBoe, please will you extract the work unit log for us?

You will find it in stderr.txt in one of the "slot" directories.

Don't abort this task just yet, but it may come to that in the end.

Hi,

okay - there´s only one Slot directory wth an "CleanEnergyProjectLogo.tga" in it.
The stderr.txt in ths directory contains:

Re: Nearly no change in % of progress / increase in computing time

Hi, OliBoe.

It does rather look as though you may have got past the problem, possibly by restarting BOINC, possibly by luck.

We haven't seen this exact error before, so your report is valuable. Thank you.

Please continue to keep an eye on the task, and don't hesitate to abort it if the problem continues. But if it makes progress, then that's even better.

Re: Nearly no change in % of progress / increase in computing time

Hi,

a small update...

I just tried to run (after i paused the project) the project this morning again and now (after aprox. 1,5h) the results are:

used CPU-time: 08:13:00
progress in %: 53,383%
remaining time: 07:25:38

Just to rember...
As i just stopped the project i got the following results:

used CPU time: 16h
remaining time: 11h
progress in %: 53,866%

So what happend?
Best reagrds,

Re: Nearly no change in % of progress / increase in computing time

Progress dropped to 53,383%?

Clearly, it has restarted from a checkpoint. Also, given the lack of progress, it looks like your problem is continuing.

I'm going to recommend you abort this task. But before you do, please will you go to your Results Status page, and click on the relevant work unit name? You can copy and paste the data here. What interests us is what happened to the other copy(s) of the work unit - did everyone else have a problem, too?
