Re: Beta Testing version 6.23 of The Clean Energy Project for Windows

Rickjb
Someone in the CEP forum said that once a few % has completed, multiplying CPU Time by (100 / % Progress) gives a good estimate of total CPU time...

Crystal Pellet
This method is not so accurate, because the beginning is not linear.

Crystal Pellet is right, that's why I actually said "after a few hours", not a few %.
Personally I don't use this method before at least 10 %, ideally 15 % or more.
Before 10 % it's better to take the time between two consecutive checkpoints and to multiply it by 40.5 (since the initialization phase is about half a checkpointing interval.

Edit: I have just sent a new "Start Here" item How long will this new type-A Clean Energy Project (CEP) work unit (WU) last? which summarizes these "tricks".

Cheers. Jean.

Re: Beta Testing version 6.23 of The Clean Energy Project for Windows

Possibly the error detection is now working too well.

BETA_ E000050_ 013A_ 000c39013_ 3-- In Progress 16-12-08 11:36:36 16-12-08 21:12:36 0.00 0.0 / 0.0

Mine turned from Pending Validation to Error. A genuine constructive 15 hours it was sad

Ah jah, the log, the cleanest I think possible for CEP:

Could be just coincidence once we are talking about CEP Betas but appear for me that we are facing the same problem described by sunnyboy in the thread below about CEP WU's:

https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=22625

PS: Just check and now I have four Beta's with status changed from pending to error... sad sad sad sad

Re: Beta Testing version 6.23 of The Clean Energy Project for Windows

Can I jump on the bandwagon too?
BETA_ E000050_ 041A_ 000c3a00p_ 1-- Error 12/15/08 18:27:09 12/16/08 09:18:46 14.81 173.2 / 0.0
BETA_ E000050_ 043A_ 000c3a00r_ 1-- Error 12/15/08 18:28:16 12/16/08 09:18:46 14.61 170.9 / 0.0
Mine also went from Pending to Error.
So that was a waste of about 30 hours of processing on my part sad
Excuse me while I go sulk now...
