No Work Available

I just got messages on a couple of my machines trying to download more work that there is no work available. I have DDDT (empty, I know) FAAH, HCC, and CEP for this profile, plus to send work if there is nothing from other projects.
Is there something wrong on the server end?

Re: No Work Available

I just picked up a couple HPF2 jobs, even though it isn't in this profile.
Before it wasn't even picking those up though. I was afraid. I had an idle core shock

100336 Help Conquer Cancer
66561 Human Proteome Folding - Phase 2
74572 Nutritious Rice for the World

Can you go to the start of the messages and let us know what the id is for the computer that is having trouble? You have a number of computers and most have been sent work today.

They seem to be ok now. It was only that 10-15 min or so that the machines weren't getting any work. Not sure why. Maybe a hiccup in the network somewhere...
As long as my cores are busy I don't mind. I upped my cache from .25 days to .5 days in case it happened again, but have not seen any more problems. Thanks.
Also, not sure why the Quad machine is showing 2.5GB RAM. It's got 4GB. Probably since the Vista version is 32-bit.

Re: No Work Available

Hello joneill003,
You are right. Just about anything can cause a hiccup for a few minutes.
Also, not sure why the Quad machine is showing 2.5GB RAM. It's got 4GB. Probably since the Vista version is 32-bit.

That is very poor. 4 GB normally shows as 2.7 to 3.4 GB, depending on device drivers. The reason is that the rules broke down for memory over 2 GB in the PC world. There is no formal body to enforce rules. They are voluntary. So now that memory exceeds 2 GB, a lot of memory is wasted. But 2.5 GB is exceptionally low. Who produced that system? Does it have any special boards in it for graphics or disk-caching?

Lawrence

Re: No Work Available

It's a Dell XPS 730.
It's got all the standard stuff inside. Also has dual GeForce 9800GT or GTX in SLI. Can't remember which.
I wish I would have thought to check Windows and see what it reports. Maybe Dell shorted me some memory laughing
