ScienceDaily (Dec. 7, 2008) — The virus behind cold sores is a major cause of the insoluble protein plaques found in the brains of Alzheimer's disease sufferers, University of Manchester researchers have revealed.
They believe the herpes simplex virus is a significant factor in developing the debilitating disease and could be treated by antiviral agents such as acyclovir, which is already used to treat cold sores and other diseases caused by the herpes virus. Another future possibility is vaccination against the virus to prevent the development of the disease in the first place. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/12/081207134109.htm |

This is further proof that viruses are much more then just an 'annoyance' as a lot of doctors might claim. "It's just a virus" ..yeah.

Yeah, yeah - and where do variola, varicella and Herpes zoster fit in?
----------------------------------------"Just a virus?" Let us now be honest and say "just one of those viruses which are best left to nature because we have not yet found a medical cure." [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 8, 2008 11:19:55 AM] |

I'm with you, cummerbund! 'What can't be cured - - must be endured!" But I am irritated by the enthusiastic approval some people bring to enduring. Curing is better! Lawrence |

I'm with you too, Lawrence.
What needs to be cured, and can be cured without creating something worse must never be endured. Harold. |
