Re: BOINC Agent on Domain Controller

The current version does not support it - It is scheduled to be fixed in BOINC version 6.6 - If You want to install it now - go here:

Install from http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php

Select version 5.8.16 - this will install and run O.K. on a Domain Controller. You will need to attach to the WGC project.

While it's not listed on the download_all-page, it's better to use v5.10.45 instead of v5.8.16, for various bug-fixes in v5.10.xx and also new functionality like server-aborting of wu's that is atleast partially broken in v5.8.16.

Download is either 32 bit:
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_5.10.45_windows_intelx86.exe

or, 64-bit:
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_5.10.45_windows_x86_64.exe

As for then v6 should finally support domain controllers, no idea, it should have been v6.3.xx but obviously this isn't true, and "milestone" just gets bumped-up for each time they've not fixed various bugs so doesn't really mean anything.

Re: BOINC Agent on Domain Controller

I've been using WCGs BOINC 5.10.45 on my 3 W2K3 R2 DCs for quite a while.

I run it as a service without any problems.
