Every time I start up my notebook the program is stopped by Vista as insecure. I have to manually tell the computer its alright. Is there a way to start the program without this?

Yes, if you fetch the new 6.2.28 version http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/reg/ms/viewDownloadAgain.do and install with protected application execution per this: http://boincfaq.mundayweb.com/index.php?language=1&view=344 BOINC will start even before you log in. Then the BOINC Manager (BM), which is only an GUI interface can be started and stopped as you please without interrupting the service. At least on my Vista the BM auto-starts minimized to the system tray.

Thanks for the quick response. My English is not that well and I do not understand this:
and install with protected application execution per this I installed the program with the option "install as admin" and restarted but still I have to click for OK. |

Did you go through the instructions of the second link? Installing as admin is just the half... electing "service" or "protected" as per the screenshots in the instructions is what makes it start before signing in. The BOINC Manager is then not really needed, unless you want to see what's going on.

I installed it step by step just like these instructions.
http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/installInstWin.jsp The only difference, is I selected all 3 in step 4 (single user, shared install, and service install) I do not know if that was right, but it works fine; It starts up during boot just fine. |

downtowndan, those are the 5.10 instructions. They've still got to be updated to the 6.2 installer hence why I gave the external link for the [almost] correct screenshots.

Either way, the step that requires you to choose service etc., I selected all. I do not remember all of the choices, just that I selected all of them. Maybe someone will take screen shots of the download process. |
