Have set the cache to 10 extra days of work, but it seems it only caches about 1 day of work.
Now I had no internet for 3 days and my comps were doing nothing. How come ?? |

If you just installed BOINC it takes a while for BOINC to adjust to your computers habits. If you leave your computer on 24/7 with BOINC crunching all those hours it will eventually adjust to cache what it thinks your computer will be able to handle.
My guess would be to give it a week or so to adjust while running 24/7 if that's your setup and then up the cache and it should pick up more work. |

hi all,
----------------------------------------the word "cache" suggests use of the website device profile. That wont take effect for a device until the settings have been replicated from the server. The message log will tell if that has happened e.g. 02-Dec-2008 22:36:04 [---] General prefs: from World Community Grid (last modified 26-Nov-2008 19:33:58) 02-Dec-2008 22:36:04 [---] Computer location: work 02-Dec-2008 22:36:04 [---] General prefs: using separate prefs for work 02-Dec-2008 22:36:04 [---] Reading preferences override file If the local preferences were in effect, they will continue to be used until you amend them or clear them. [added: lament at the developers: Why does that "override" line not simply say "local preferences overrides"? The times since 5.8 are over having to dabble in this file]

"they will continue to be used until you amend them or clear them" did the trick.
