Hello everyone
I 'm running a task of FightAIDS@home 6.06 When the task gets temporarily suspended, it always restarts from 0% afterwards. I'm running boinc 6.2.1.9 Is this a configuration issue ? |

It means that you aren't letting the task run long enough uninterrupted.
But yes, there are preferences you can choose to help reduce this problem. See here for a few suggestions from my colleague Sekerob: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=11332 |

Thanks
Checked "Computing allowed -> while computer is in use" in preferences. It will probably make a difference. I´ll also try to pay attention to the checkpoints, as mentioned. |

It should not happen when you or Boinc suspend tasks if you check the option "Leave in Memory while suspended"** in the profile of this device. Unless you stop Boinc completely, of course. ** or something similar. I am away from my Boinc machines right now and the daily stats are running, so I cannot check the exact text. Cheers. Jean. |

There's a screenshot of the WCG Device Profile in the FAQs accessible 24/7 :D
----------------------------------------Think but cant confirm this moment that BOINC is designed not to unload an application before the first checkpoint? No one ever notices with RICE and DDDT because of the very short intervals but with the other 3 projects it is a serious matter. Certainly the design is to not let it do a project switch before the first checkpoint is reached. Else there is a chance that there would never be progress particularly when "Leave application in memory while preempted" (LIM) is not on and the setting is unselected for "while computes is in use". Anyway, I just tried is and re-confirmed: Unloads apps when LIM is Off and Idle/Resume is used. 4 jobs on the quad just returned to last checkpoint and did went back a good hour in progress on a FAAH job ![]() Think I've lamented this design before and in 6.2.28 it still does so, but Didactylos did comment something like: "behavior exactly as the field description says". Note to Self: The Checkpoint FAQ needs a paragraph on LIM but distinctly remember a Frenchman promising a whole separate FAQ for this topic so I can do with just a x-ref ![]()

I don't know for FAAH or HPF2 but for HCC it is not too big a problem since the first checkpoint is taken quite fast. Didactylos did comment something like: "behavior exactly as the field description says". Right. It seems that it is time that I put those things together, at last. Note to Self To Self or to the Frenchman? Cheers. Jean. |

I had the same problem over a month ago, except with me, the agent would stop running without my doing, and when I restarted the agent, the progress would start at 0 again. It happened a few times, It was a configuration problem for me. I had to add something to the file (I'm not a programmer by any means).
If you look at the thread "Strange faah4454 behavior", you'll see what was happening to me,, and how it seems to have been fixed. So far, no problems. |
