1918 - World War I ends: Germany signs an armistice agreement with the Allies in a railroad car outside of Compiègne in France. The war officially stops at 11:00 (The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month).
1921 - The Tomb of the Unknowns is dedicated by US President Warren G. Harding at Arlington National Cemetery. 2006 - The New Zealand war memorial monument was unveiled by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in London, commemorating the loss of soldiers from the New Zealand Army and the British Army.  |

Thank you, Dave and John. I wish you the same, but I would not wish anyone a day like I had today. I had a 10 a.m. appointment at the local Hospital Day Services Unit. Nobody there heard the sirens, the investigation proved useless and I lost more blood than I ever lost in battle.
Even though I can neither sit, stand nor walk without pain, I am determined to complete my week's assignment and turn up at the Adult Education session tomorrow as on other Wednesdays. |
