Re: March Madness

@Dan...when I first got to Phoenix I was doing Grading and Paving work, creating building pads, streets, parking lots and the underground utility corridors for residential and commercial buildings; running Heavy Equipment ( Bulldozers, Graders, Back Hoes, ETC.)...you just brought back a nasty memory....CALICHE!!!!!

Southwest Chandler area was the worst..generally around 18 inches of great Top Soil in the Cotton Fields and you hit that monster, the color of chalk...generally only a couple of feet thick, but I have fought it to finished subgrade!! As you said; consistency of 2 year old concrete with no stratus within it, solid the full depth!!

@ DA ...Dynamite tends to raise havoc with a water table that can range from 4 to 24 feet...not to mention the neighbors buildings!!!!

Dan for future reference if only digging a post hole.....let water i.e. a garden hose run while using an auger post hole digger and let it saturate before starting, caliche will swell and be more manageable

Re: March Madness

Wifey tells me I'm not allowed to use it for doing the laundry, cleaning the car or stopping the neighbour's dog from messing the front lawn, too.

Some people are just no fun.

Re: March Madness

First, let me compliment Sport on the nice new color of his globe. Emerald looks good!!

As far as dynamite goes, we are not allowed to use that within the city limits of my town, but.....If I had a 50 calibur machine gun I could legally shoot at the caliche to loosen it up. raised eyebrow (just kidding)

Sorry to dig up clown bad memories of caliche for you Sport. I feel for the equipment operators that have to spend the whole day in the summer here working in 110F temps. Makes you appreciate the winter months alot more. biggrin

Thanx, I just noticed the Emerald myself...took 17 years to get it!!!

... we had AC/Heated cabs on most equipment, but you still had to get out sometimes; (I stayed away from Asphalt work like it was a leper!) drenching your shirt in the water truck helped for 20-30 minutes!!!!

Re: March Madness

I want to personally thank all the base campers who have given us a lift in the last 2 weeks, and also big special thanks to those who have been with us all month.
Thanks to DA and Sport for the pretty stats!
Your help is appreciated and won't be forgotten.

Although we didn't quite meet our objective, it is now positively more feasible and has given us some hope.
Although it's all about finding some cures and treatments, it's always good to seek competitiveness to spice things up, and you guys/gals did us well and have given us a chance to meet our goal.
I hope you all give yourselves a pat on the back and continue to visit us at the BBT forum.

I wish you all well in your future endeavors.

Thanks,
Troy

Re: March Madness

Today is the last day of the official trek so it's your last chance to get a nice shinny badge, come on over to the camp site and have some fun.
