Hello: I'm running BOINC via the World Community Grid with it processing projects from SETI, Einstein and Lattice on Win. XP. Going along fine for a couple of days (only installed it then) and today my screensaver no longer comes up - only a black screen, no numbers, possible a WCG logo of some sort (don't recall for sure). Running the 5.10.45 software, by the way.
I did a complete uninstall and reinstall, but this did not change things. What has happened and how can I get it back. The ss from the Rosetta project is especially attractive. Sure want to get that function, the screensaver, back. Thanks for any help you can give. - tg |

----------------------------------------I am sorry I am not very good at screensaver problems. The only things I can suggest you right now is to check- - that the boinctray.exe is still in Boinc's directory. With such a name one could think it is used to show the icon in the systray and remove it to not see that icon there - obviously, that somebody has not changed anything in the desktop properties, under the screensaver tab - that your firewall is still allowing boinctray.exe to run. Boinctray is in fact the key element of Boinc's screensavers. By the way WCG techs should officially announce a beta version 6.2.xx of Boinc adapted to WCG needs early next week (ideally on Monday). This new version is installing and running screensavers very well, so if you are not in a hurry and if my previous tips don't help you to fix your problem you might simply wait for the beta to put things right. Otherwise wait for one of my CA mates to come back here in a few hours with more ideas.  Cheers. Jean. |
