sad Life or death

Hear we are working for a way to preserve life and in Florida they are taking one by starvation ---This is the reason everyone should have a living will. Request for Schiavo
Lying in her hospice bed with a crowd of protesters gathering outside, Terri Schiavo stopped receiving nourishment Friday through a fvoeeding tube that has kept her alive for more than a decade. Schiavo, 41, could linger one to two weeks, provided no oneintercedes and gets the tube reinserted. The Supreme Court, without comment, denied anemergency request to reinsert Schiavo's feeding tube while a House committee files appeals in the lower courts. WE dont know if this is really what she wanted-- sad NY Times

marysduby;

I know it sounds harsh but somethimes we can "kind" a person into torment.
I watch info-commercials about feed the children and shake my head in sadness. Not because those that give hearts are not in the right place but because thier "kindness" has condemned another generation to stravation and poverty.
Most of these charities play on the good hearts to do bad things. How many charities publish a list of the number of children that they helped that actualy got out of poverty? How many follow up to determine if those they helped, didn't have half a dozen kids of thier own who are also in poverty or starving. There is a saying "Give a man a fish and he'll eat good for one day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat good there after." Unfortunately the vast majority of "Charities" only give out fish and thier only real concern is to make the giver feel guilty for thier blessings. A perversion of the good, extending a hope that is no hope, a helping hand that is no helping hand but rather a certainty of desolation. Yes, there can be too much "kindness".

Paws Paws I agree with you 100% Those info. spots irk me to no end those idiots could put their money here. Where i think it would be better used. I think those people for the most part are misguided--They want to feel good because they think they are to well off and i dont mean money wise.But my main concern was the ability to let people know that we should have a living will so this wont happen to you or me or our loved ones--meaning everyone.My wife has metastec breast cancer that has spread to her bones she has informed that she would not want to die in this manner. She does not want the state or someone or family member to keep her from dying with dignity.-But on the other hand Shaivio parents want to take full responsibility. She is only on a feeding tube in the absenceof a LIVING WILL why not? REcently in Kansas a woman was in a coma and has regained consciousness. So who is to say life or death.Our state and federal gov. has stepped in where have no buisiness.We have career politicians creating unconstitonal laws and courts upholding them.--To many thoughts in my head.The main thing is to think ahead about what some good willed persons could do to your life. Thats why i am advocating a LIVING WILL so we wouldnt have to go thru this kind of ordeal.--Thanks for your comments.Duby

marysduby;

Your wife and you are and shall remain steadfast in my prayers.
I agree with you I have a Living Will, it is the one instrument of self control that I deligently protect. I have made sure my family, my doctors, local hospitals, friends and occasional lawyer know about it and where the copies are kept. My own passing is the one dignity I shall attempt to perserve unto myself and attempt to remove it from the reach of the earwest do-gooder.
