Re: new My Grid format

If so please remember that not all badges are available to everyone (due to some not being available for certain operating systems). If so this means you will actually demotivate some people. (Your indirect implication: Ha ha you cannot get Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy badge even though you donated 3 years worth of CPU time because you are running the wrong os!)
At the minimum this section should be optional (allow the user to hide it or at least put it below the total statistics where it logically belongs).

Welcome to the age of information where knowledge and data are king. To suppress the data and hamper the opportunity to know more is to return to the dark ages.

Re: new My Grid format

I love the new changes, though I do agree with runningclouds about the My Statistics/My Team bit - would look much nicer IMO if they were one under the other rather than next to each other. Or perhaps combine the 2 into one table.

I do have one request (of course! wink): I'd love to be able to see what my averages are for the last e.g. 30 days to compare to my all-time averages. I think a recent average would be more relevant than an all-time average anyway.

That said, keep up the great work. biggrin

Re: new My Grid format

You techs have been busy!! And some of you have burnt some midnight oil last weekend dealing with the server hardware problems, too. I'm sure that all of us associated with WCG would join me in thanking you for your efforts. Perhaps we should instigate a new class of badges: The Techies wink

My 2c worth on the changes:
In general, I like the new changes, but can see runningclouds' point of view, as the 2-column My Statistics/My Team section looks a bit cluttered. An option would be to continue the Stats by Projects table with 4 extra lines: Totals for <member>, Rank for <member>, Total for <member>'s Team, Rank for <member>'s Team.
I have thought for some time that some of the Project Badge icons are a little indistinct, and that they might be improved, eg by darkening the pixels around their circular borders. I don't have time to try this, but if someone out there does, then ...

I note that in the Results Status pages, "UTC" has been added to all of the Sent and Returned times. I like having UTC stated, but clutter and communication bandwidth would be reduced by putting "UTC" only on the column headings. The change has probably been achieved by modding the one piece of code that prints UTC-times everywhere on the site, and switching back just for places where "UTC" is stated in column headings may be too much effort.

Re: new My Grid format

The new format is great and is better than the old one. The different levels of achievement for badges is a good idea, but the added incentive ends when the member hits the 90 day mark. Arden42 and runningclouds have very good ideas. 30 day averages added would be very helpful and maybe seven day averages, too.

Runningclouds' criticism on the background colors has merit also, but for a different and personal reason. I just don't like the color yellow very well. Maybe instead of doing the background a color there could be a colored dot to the lower right of the badge. You could add a color for 180 days, another for one year, a different color for two years, and so on.

One thing is guaranteed for sure. No matter what changes you make there will be people out in the client base who won't be as happy about it as others are.

Re: new My Grid format

Really good work ! The detailed stats for each project is wonderful !

The 3 levels-badges are a good idea, too, but ... well ... how can I say that ... the pictures are not very nice (the background color). I think I would be "better" (in my humble opinion) to put a little star (don't know the good name in English for "astérisque") like that :

BADGE *
BADGE **
BADGE ***

Or :

BADGE * (with three different colors for the "*")

Also, I "discovered" (anyone probably knows that already :)) that all projects give a different amount of points per day. I calculated each active project with my own stats and found that :

DDDT : 2.141 ppd
FA@H : 2.225 ppd
HCC : 2.303 ppd
HPF2 : 2.135 ppd
Rice : 2.701 ppd

Is it "normal" ?

Re: new My Grid format

Yes it is known, but suggest you create a separate topic if you wish to delve in. This thread is about the new My Grid page layout. If you follow the link "Graphs" below in my sig, go to chart 5 for a visual.

on other suggestions:

  • With the UTC in the header suggestion I concur.

  • The Personal & Team stats side by side could use some alignment

  • In a world I grew up with paper money having embossed dots that could be sensed by the visual impaired, asterisks 1/2/3 for the colour blind would be an easier identifier. The colored fringes sort of drown the images, but that's strictly personal experience.

There's more goodies coming, for the far-out ahead crunchers too :D

Pictures telling a story, some mentioned already in this thread:

    A) I'd remove the first UTC in the Header.
    B) I'd make the column headers to have a sort function. E.g. this allows focusing on the projects that need more work biggrin wink
    C) The Red circled Rank in the Team section moved to a new line same as My statistics for cosmetics.

Just to add a suggestion, maybe create a badge for time computed. Something like a bronze badge for 1 year, silver for 5 years, and a old badge for 10 years crunching. Just a thought.
