Hi,
I have recently built up a new machine which is running Windows Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 and it is showing lots of 401 errors only for Human Proteome Folding Phase 2. These errors vary in CPU time ranging from 0.02 hours to 3.45 hours. The error is listed below: <core_client_version>6.2.18</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> Incorrect function. (0x1) - exit code 1 (0x1) </message> <stderr_txt> ERROR:: Exit at: .\dock_structure.cc line:401 </stderr_txt> ]]> I have many other computers running the grid and none of them have shown any errors on HPF Phase 2. They are running Windows XP 32 bit SP3 and Windows XP 64 bit SP1 platforms. Could you please let me know if it is a known problem with either Windows Vista Ultimate X64 SP1 or a problem within the Human Proteome Folding Phase 2 architecture. Regards Phil |

Hello philperkins.
Not to worry. This is a bug that occasionally shows up in the new HPF2 ver. 6.03. We hope to soon fix it with 6.04. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=21936#185305 Lawrence |

A little bit of dismay on my part. There are 7 threads started since September 17 with this same error as part of an identical sequence starting with "Incorrect function. (0x1) - exit code 1 (0x1)". Surely our search facility is not that bad or?
----------------------------------------http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...3&submitbutton=Search When looking for a problem just take a piece of text and enclose it in quotations, plant it in the search box of every forum page, right top, and all posts with the exact text will show up allowing quite narrow searches: Try, including the quotations "dock_structure.cc line:401" and you get http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...9&submitbutton=Search cheers and hope it helps other reader to find a prior support topic PS: And please no forum software laments.... it's less than current so we row with the oars we got. ![]()

Hi Sekerob,
I totally understand the search feature and have read through many posts regarding this error. The main reason for posting this thread is because you have failed to mention anywhere that this error can occur even after 2 to 3 hours of cpu processing as experienced by myself. Re: ERROR:: Exit at: .\dock_structure.cc line:401 Reply to this Post Reply with Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi, yes, based on previous member reports the techs have identified a bug with the new 6.03 science application release, having limited impact, which is why the project was left running. If the job fails it always happens within a few minutes from the start. If it has run e.g. 15 minutes, it will finish properly. An alpha test is underway, so expect a beta some time shortly. Until then, de-select HPF2 and monitor Known Issues and Beta Test forum for word on resolution. You can subscribe to RSS news feeds if you like for any of the WCG fora for delivery of updates to your browser (See Start Here forum FAQs for the How To). cheers Your above listed reply is irrelevant in my opinion as you have clearly stated that: If the job fails it always happens within a few minutes from the start. If it has run e.g. 15 minutes, it will finish properly. In my case the job has been failing well after 2 to 3 hours of cpu usage. It is also very much more specific because there are 8 other pcs which do not error at all. Your reply elsewhere does not refer to any particular operating systems such as Microsoft Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 in my case. Out of the other 8 computers, 2 are running Microsoft Windows XP x64 SP1 with no HPF2 errors at all. This thread covers much more specific parameters regarding the 401 errors. I hope this will be useful to other Microsoft Vista Ultimate x64 users. Regards Phil |

Don't want to develop any polemic after all I wrote "cheers and hope it helps other reader to find a prior support topic". This morning a narrow-down to Vista was posted in one of the early threads reporting the problem. It's further academic as the bug fix is in alpha test per several posts by -Uplinger.
----------------------------------------In General: It is helpful for any support person if the member notes whether a search was done and to identify the difference from other reports. Could not make out if that was done.... the failing later into the run not identified before. Thanks for reporting this. cheers

Uhhh. . . . I suppose it is natural that we feel defensive about bugs. The best place to announce finding a bug in HPF2 6.03 would have been in the Member News thread announcing HPF2 6.03 ( http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=21919 ). Instead we announced it down in error threads in the HPF2 Forum, where it is easy to overlook. Since we have released a bug, our best policy is probably dignified acceptance of derisory laughter (until we release the fix). Ouch!! Thanks for alerting us, philperkins. After some serious effort in the Boinc Client forum I discovered that this project was causing my error.
Using Vista SP1 x64 and CUDA video drivers the system locks up and requires a reboot. No BSOD or any warning behavior just a complete system freeze. Eliminating HPF2 resolves the issue. This was reproduceable on two separate Vista SP1 x64 systems one Intel and one NVidia chipset. Both with 8GB RAM. Changing CUDA driver versions or changing Boinc client versions had no effect. I'm not sure if I can be of any help in troubleshooting the problem, but if I can assist, please let me know. |

This bug does not cause computers to freeze, and is not related to a specific hardware setup. So, there is no evidence of a link.
Of course, relic, you may have been suffering from this bug as well as the locking issue. Look at your logs and see if there is an incorrect function error. |

I did not say that they are relevant, I only warned you that another type of error might interfere in your debugging efforts. It is up to you to check a WU's error log and see if the error falls in one category or another.
