I was curious what kind of computers people are using for crunching. I really like the idea of WCG and I have been thinking about building a faster desktop computer mainly for the purposes of crunching WCG units. Am I crazy for doing this?
----------------------------------------Show your computer setup and what you use to crunch units. Pictures are welcome too. Here's mine: A Dell Inspiron E1505 with a Core Duo 1.83 ghz processor (I also use a laptop cooler with this computer as it can get hot) A Toshiba U305 with a Pentium dual-core processor at 1.86 ghz I also got my roomate to install WCG on his computer He has a Dell Inspiron 700m with a 1.8 ghz Pentium M processor Last but not least, I built a desktop for my parents which uses a Core 2 Duo 2.66 ghz processor overclocked to 3 ghz. I know, I know, the laptops are slow, but they are very energy efficient. Each processor uses less than 35 watts. I leave my systems running 24/7, so they have more time to crunch work units. ![]() |
